Historic gothic-style church in Norfolk is for sale

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services has been named the exclusive sales broker for The Christian Temple of Norfolk, a historic 31,645-square-foot church, located at 303 W. 34th St. The property is being marketed as a development opportunity for multifamily housing, student housing, or retail use.

The building is currently owned by Deccan Investment Properties.

Built in 1922, the church served the community for decades before closing in 2006. The structure is recognized for its Gothic-style architecture. Reverend Donald Kirkbride, who led the congregation for 17 years, described the building as having “a design that cannot be duplicated today.” Architectural features of the church include ribbed vaults, high vault ceilings, flying buttresses, and large stained-glass windows.
