Chesapeake Bay Preservation Ordinance amended

The Windsor Town Council voted unanimously on Feb. 10 to accept proposed amendments to the town’s Chesapeake Bay Preservation Ordinance following a public hearing in which one member of the public spoke.

Prior to the hearing, Town Manager William Saunders read from a memo written to the Town Council by Windsor Interim Planner Maxie Brown that had the subject line, “Proposed Amendments to the Town’s Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 57, Chesapeake Bay Preservation Ordinance.”

She noted that across the past months, town staff has worked closely with Justin Williams, manager with the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Office of Watersheds and Local Government Assistance, to amend the town’s ordinances to comply with the state-mandated changes to regulations, which include adding a resiliency assessment on proposed developments encroaching into the Resource Protection Area (RPA), new guidelines for mature trees, as well as other Bay Act updates…
