Virginia Beach sheriff’s deputies to assist VBPD in maintaining safety at Oceanfront

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Following this weekend’s shooting on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, Sheriff Rocky Holcomb said folks can expect to see more deputies at the resort area and that those who break the law will face the consequences.

“We’re in the first weekend in March, and we’re dealing with folks getting shot at the Oceanfront, and it’s just terrible,” Holcomb said, “If you bring the attitude and the and the bad behavior to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, you’re going to face the consequences.”

The decision comes following Saturday nights oceanfront shooting, which left six people shot. Holcomb said he’s been in talks with Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate. He says the two have talked about how deputies can become more engaged in keeping the Oceanfront safe…
