“If you delivered here, we will come to you.” | Chesapeake Regional Healthcare relaunches the Mom Mobile

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — According to guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, hospital stays after an uncomplicated vaginal birth are typically about 48 hours, although some mothers and newborns may go home sooner if they meet certain medical criteria.

“A few years ago, with COVID, there was a big push for people [who] wanted to get out of the hospital sooner,” said Crystal Midwood, mother-baby nurse manager at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. “Now, vaginal delivery could go home anywhere after 24 hours.”
