Currituck County HS students shelter-in-place after altercation

CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — Students at Currituck County High School had to shelter-in-place after an altercation outside the school Friday and a report of a student who may have been in possession of a weapon on its campus, the school division said.

The school division said law enforcement investigated the situation and found “no credible threat or evidence of a weapon” found, and the school returned to normal operations shortly before it dismissed for the day.

“We understandthat situations like this may cause concern,” Currituck County Schools said. “Please know that the safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority, and all reported safety concerns are taken seriously and thoroughly investigated. Appropriate disciplinary actions are being addressed in accordance with district policies.”…
