Joint effort by fire crews swiftly extinguishes Suffolk brush fire

SUFFOLK, Va. — Firefighters from multiple jurisdictions extinguished a brush fire in a rural area of Suffolk on Sunday evening.

The brush fire in the 1100 block of Audubon Road was dispatched at 6 p.m., and the first engine arrived at 6:07 p.m. The fire was marked under control at 6:29 p.m.

About nine units from Suffolk Department of Fire and Rescue responded to the brush fire, as did units from Carrollton and Smithfield and the Virginia Department of Forestry…
