HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A Hampton family is searching for answers after 20-year-old DeSean Richardson died following a high-speed chase that involved Virginia State Police early Sunday morning.
The incident started on Interstate 64 near Fort Eustis, and, according to police, Richardson was driving 99 mph in a 65 mph zone.
State Police say Richardson left the highway and then traveled along Route 17 South, where his 2006 BMW sedan ran off the road and crashed into a tree near the intersection of Ella Taylor Road and George Washington Highway. Loved ones say Richardson worked two jobs in Richmond and was headed home to Hampton.
“He’s a good kid, he was a very, very good kid,” said members of DeSean Richardson’s family, including his mother, Ashley Richardson. “He was a great young man, not a troublemaker and no [criminal] record, just a good kid.”…
