NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The U.S. Navy confirmed on Monday USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) will leave Norfolk on Tuesday, March 31, for a regularly scheduled deployment.
The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier and its strike group finished a pre-deployment Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) earlier this month. According to the Navy, this training event prepares naval task forces for sustained high-end Joint and combined combat.
“COMPTUEX is the certification event for the strike group to let us know we are ready for major combat operations around the world,” said Rear Adm.
