SUFFOLK, Va. — A 45-year-old man died following a medical emergency at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail in Suffolk early Wednesday morning, according to officials.
Jail staff reported that around 4:29 a.m., an officer observed an inmate experiencing a medical emergency inside one of the facility’s security housing units. The officer immediately called for medical and security assistance.
