More ‘takeover’ events identified in Hampton Roads

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — On April 2, a wave of rowdy behavior washed up on Buckroe Beach, and it appears this so-called unsanctioned takeover was a harbinger from Hampton of things to come.

Next stop: Patrick Henry Mall in Newport News, where a takeover had been set for April 9. Newport News Councilman John Eley saw the flier for the event and issued a warning, via social media, to parents with children under the age of 18.

“You must have a parent or guardian that’s over the age of 21, accompanying you,” Eley said, “and the reason for that is we just want to make sure our citizens are safe.
