One home for eagles vs. hundreds of homes for people in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A raptor’s residence on one side of the Nansemond River is the focus of concern for residents on the other.

The eagle’s nest sits high in a tall pine on land currently owned by the Commonwealth. Major homebuilder Ryan Homes wants to purchase the 87 acres and build nearly 500 homes, with a mixture of condos and townhomes.
