PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A couple in Portsmouth says they noticed a need in their community when the city purchased a building where many unhoused individuals were staying nearby. That’s when they decided to take matters into their own hands to help those in need.
For a few weekends now, Sheri Martin and her husband Willie Wallace have set up near London Plaza in Portsmouth, handing out meals and supplies to the homeless. That’s exactly where 10 On Your Side caught up with them.
Sheri says she took to social media asking for help from the community to continue their efforts. That’s when they received an outpour of support from community members who donated their time and supplies…
