VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Three people were arrested for violations of the emergency, all-ages Oceanfront curfew put in place as a way to deter violence in that area of the city following two mass shootings on Atlantic Avenue in the space of a month.

In a statement, police shared there were no shootings or significant violence on April 17 and 18. However, one adult was arrested Friday night and two were arrested Saturday night.
The Virginia Beach City Council voted Thursday to temporarily implement a 9:30 p.m. curfew for all ages, which extends from Pacific Avenue to the Atlantic Ocean and from Rudee Loop to 31st Street.
While there were no reports of shootings at the Oceanfront over the weekend, Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate said he was grateful for the community’s understanding about the curfew, saying “a unique response was necessary to interrupt the incidents of shootings involving multiple victims, allowing us to stabilize an area where we have been challenged year after year during our spring season.”…
