The Virginia Lottery unveils new teachers’ lounge to faculty and staff at Suburban Park Elementary in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Lottery unveiled Suburban Park Elementary School’s new teachers’ lounge to the school’s faculty and staff Monday, according to a press release.

The renovations were completed during spring break and unveiled to the school’s teachers and staff on April 13. In partnership with The Supply Room and Brightstar Lottery, the Virginia Lottery’s Teachers’ Lounge Makeover program made the new lounge possible. The school was randomly selected from a large pool of eligible entries that make up around 75% of the Commonwealth’s public schools.

“Virginia’s teachers pour their hearts into educating and supporting students every single day,” said Khalid Jones, the Virginia Lottery’s executive director. “Through campaigns like the Teachers’ Lounge Makeover and Thank a Teacher, and through the Lottery’s ongoing contributions to K‑12 public education, we’re proud to stand behind educators across the Commonwealth and show our appreciation in meaningful ways.”

The lounge’s transformation has been planned since November 2025. The new space includes a coat of fresh paint that was painted by the Virginia Lottery and The Supply Room’s employees, new furniture and modern appliances.
