PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth Police are crediting the use of surveillance footage in the arrests of two men who now face drug and firearm charges.
Bejayzeun Petty, 22, and Alijah Harrison, 22, who were arrested Monday, have been charged with firearm and narcotic violations, as well as possession with intent to distribute marijuana after surveillance footage from a Portsmouth Police Department camera showed two people — one on foot and one in a white sedan — improperly handling a firearm in Southside.
After a second-shift Real Time Crime Center analyst made the observation, the analyst immediately notified available units, who responded to Edwards Street, between 5th and 7th Streets and not far from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, where they found a white sedan leaving a parking lot. That’s where, according to Portsmouth Police, officers stopped the vehicle and confirmed the people and vehicle matched the surveillance footage before securing a search warrant…
