VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Firefighters battled a house fire on Ridgeview Road in Virginia Beach Wednesday morning, according to the Virginia Beach Fire Department.
On April 29 at around 2:12 a.m., the department and EMS units were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 3800 block of Ridgeview Road. When crews arrived to the scene by 2:16, they saw light smoke coming from the back of the two-story house.
Before crews arrived, the homeowner attempted to extinguish the fire with a garden hose. The fire started from under the deck where the homeowner had burned weeds earlier in the day. The fire then spread to the deck and the house’s exterior.
Crews completed overhaul, extinguished some hot spots and ventilated the house. The family safely evacuated the house after they were awakened by the smoke alarm. No one was displaced. Residents, firefighters or pets weren’t injured…
