PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A new company setting up shop in Portsmouth Thursday is revolutionizing the way ships are made and repaired.
It’s called Radian Forge, and through 3-D printers, they’re able to make large-scale, specialty-shaped metal parts for ships much faster and much cheaper than before.
“You know, I’ve been in the industry for a long time and what we’re seeing happening here is a fundamental change in how manufacturing works,” Radian Forge President Jeff Yeager said at Thursday’s ribbon cutting. “Building parts faster and cheaper, and having operators with less training means the warfighter comes home quicker.”…
