NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A suspect has been hospitalized after a barricade situation at a hotel on North Military Highway in Norfolk Friday evening, according to the Norfolk Police Department.
On May 1 at around 11:45 p.m., the department was dispatched to a person with a weapon call for service in the 3300 block of North Military Highway. The initial report suggested a 25-year-old man wielded a firearm inside a hotel room. Officers at the scene attempted to contact the suspect, but he refused to open the door. While attempting to communicate with the suspect, it became apparent that he was using narcotics.
On May 2 at around 2:45 a.m., the suspect was taken into custody after leaving the hotel room. Shortly after, the suspect experienced an overdose reaction to the narcotics he had taken earlier. Paramedics treated the suspect at the scene, and he was then transported to a local hospital…
