VDOT to reopen long-term lane closure on Route 58 near downtown Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. — Motorists on U.S. Route 58 near downtown Suffolk will be happy as the Virginia Department of Transportation begins removing a long-term lane closure beginning as soon as Monday night.

Contractors on the Southeastern Public Service Authority interchange project will begin reopening the right lane closure on Route 58 westbound just east of the downtown exit. Once the closure is removed, all three lanes of westbound traffic will be open.

However, some temporary overnight closures may be necessary as crews remove the temporary barriers. The temporary closures will take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and will be dependent on the weather and other scheduling factors…
