Suffolk teen lives to tell the tale of triple trauma

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Suffolk teen is “lucky to be alive” after being electrocuted Friday and falling 60 feet after climbing a high-tension power line.

To get a closer look at what could be called a miracle, Drone 10 flew above high-tension power lines that run perpendicular to Brook and Delaware avenues in Suffolk and the tracks Amtrak uses to serve Norfolk passengers.

Over the weekend, 10 On Your Side told you about a brush fire in the area, but that was the least of the story. Suffolk Battalion Chief/Fire Marshall Chris Cornwell offered details Monday on what could have been a tragic and preventable death.
