SUFFOLK, Va. — An investigation is underway after a fire broke out at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail on Tuesday morning.
According to jail officials, staff were alerted to the fire around 5 a.m. in the inmate laundry room. The Suffolk Fire Department was called to the jail, and firefighters were able to contain the fire to a bin of inmate uniforms.
