Virginia Beach officer awarded for saving newborn’s life

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) –A Virginia Beach police officer was recognized Wednesday after rapidly responding to a newborn who had stopped breathing shortly after birth.

Officer H. Holmes received a call in reference to an infant who had stopped breathing minutes after birth. Upon arrival, he performed life-saving chest compressions and restored the baby’s breathing before medical units arrived.

As a result, Holmes was awarded the Life Saving Medal for his decisive actions. and remaining calm under pressure…
