Forecasters are monitoring a significant severe weather outbreak that’s possible on Wednesday and Thursday across northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin.
Hot, Humid Air Setting the Stage
Residents around the stateline area should closely monitor weather forecasts this week, with an increased threat of dangerous storms that could bring strong winds, hail, and possible Tornadoes.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to be in the low-to-mid 90s on Wednesday and Thursday, with heat indices between 95 and 100 expected.
Wednesday Could Be a Precursor
While current forecasts show Thursday (6/11) has a higher threat level, Wednesday is not expected to be quiet. Latest forecast models show storms developing across Iowa and Wisconsin that may track into northern Illinois.
NWS has a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 pm on Wednesday (6/10), and an 80 percent chance of storms late on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning, with the possibility of strong winds and hail.
