South Shore Line suspends service after train derailment and power loss

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – The South Shore Line is suspending all train services on Wednesday due to a freight train derailment and power loss near East Chicago and Gary.

Passengers are asked to find alternate transportation to and from Chicago for the rest of the night and potentially Thursday morning’s commute.

Crews are working to repair the damage, but there’s no timeline yet…
