Severe thunderstorm watches and warnings in the Chicago area Friday led some suburbs to cancel or postpone their third of July fireworks plans, with others putting out messages saying the weather could change event schedules. And forecasters say more storms could be in store heading into the evening.
Friday afternoon, the city of Aurora announced it was canceling and rescheduling the evening’s fireworks and holiday celebrations, with a rainout date already scheduled.
“With a high probability of more thunderstorms tonight, per the National Weather Service, combined with substantial portions of the City recovering from storm damage and still without power, the decision was made to reschedule tonight’s fireworks show,” the update said…
