Man Sentenced in Felony Aggravated DUI Case in Grundy Co.

A DuPage County man was sentenced in a Grundy County felony DUI case this week. David Elbert, 20, of Addison pled guilty to Aggravated DUI/Causing Great Bodily Harm, a class four felony. Grundy County court records show Elbert was sentenced to 30 months of conditional discharge, must pay $53,000 in restitution and attend the victim impact panel. The Seneca Police Department said a vehicle driven by Elbert was traveling southbound on Route 6 approaching the West Bluff Road intersection at a high rate of speed, when he lost control causing him to leave the roadway.

The vehicle went through a ditch, into trees and shrubs around 2 a.m. on August 17th of 2024. Police officials say Elbert, a male juvenile passenger were standing outside of the vehicle when first responders arrived on scene. A 19-year-old female was trapped inside and had to be extricated. All three individuals were transported to Morris Hospital for their injuries. The female was later transferred to Loyola Medical Center for further treatment…
