Man charged with murder in connection with Des Plaines shooting from July 2025

DES PLAINES, Ill. (WGN) – A man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the July 2025 death of a 33-year-old man in Des Plaines.

The Des Plaines Police Department said on July 23, 2025, officers were sent to the 900 block of North Avenue to investigate reports of a man who was found dead inside a white Dodge Durango.

When officers arrived, they found 33-year-old Joseph Kalamaris of Rosemont slumped over in the front passenger seat. Officers later discovered Kalamaris had been shot in the back. Several spent cartridge casings were also found inside the vehicle, according to police.
