As we get closer to Fall, and turn the calendar over to September, we won’t have autumn-like weather, at least for the next week, as a heat wave rolls into the Stateline area.
Heat Builds Across Northern Illinois
Summer isn’t ready to let go of us just yet, so don’t close your pool or put away your short pants because we’re heading into a stretch of hot, humid weather.
The National Weather Service (NWS) is already issuing heat advisories and warning parts of Illinois about dangerous heat indexes that will reach 100 to 105 on Tuesday (9/1) and Wednesday (9/2), with even higher temps possible south of Interstate 80.
Rockford Could Feel Close to 100
The Rockford region will also be in the heat zone, with the NWS predicting heat indexes approaching 98 degrees on Tuesday and 99 degrees on Wednesday.
The extended forecast from the Weather Channel is showing a prolonged stretch of hot weather to begin September, with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s through this upcoming weekend.
