A cluster of storms could hit parts of northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana overnight Thursday and into the morning on Friday, bringing with them a potential for flash flooding, the National Weather Service warned.
The storms could hit between 3 a.m. through 11 a.m. on Friday, NWS predicted, and the main hazards expected are lightning strikes, soaking downpours and gusty winds. Stronger storms could also produce hail up to 1 inch in diameter and winds gusty enough to damage tree limbs.
