PAXTON — A Chicago man was sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty in Ford County Circuit Court on Monday, Sept. 14, to possession of 400-900 grams of fentanyl with intent to deliver and aggravated battery to a peace officer.
Judge Matt Fitton imposed the sentence on Rashawn A. Carter, 50, of Chicago, as part of a plea agreement negotiated between Carter’s court-appointed public defender, Harvey Welch, and State’s Attorney Andrew Killian.
Carter’s sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections includes an 18-year term for possession of 400-900 grams of fentanyl with intent to deliver, a Class X felony, and a four-year term for aggravated battery to a peace officer, a Class 2 felony, to be served concurrently…
