Roselle man arrested for punching woman in the face

Brookfield police arrested a 59-year-old Roselle man on Sept. 8 for domestic battery.

Around 1 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 4000 block of Blanchan Avenue on a report of a domestic battery in which the complainant said the man had hit her in the face and told dispatchers he reportedly had mental health issues. The officer entered the residence in question and made contact with the man, whom they observed had small cuts on his arm, chin and ear. The man said he had gotten the cuts while removing the microwave. When asked if there had been an argument, the man said the woman had declined to help him move the microwave to the garage and got in his way while he moved it, prompting a fight.

The man said he did not hit the woman and said he got the cuts from shaving and from a “bad tooth,” according to police. The officer went upstairs and spoke with a third individual, who said the woman had promised to remove the microwave before saying she was too tired and couldn’t help. The person said the man placed the microwave on the stove, at which point the woman decided she could help him, but he then became angry and hit her, knocking her to the ground…
