MILWAUKEE — One month into the new school year, Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) still has 51 teaching vacancies left to fill. Over the summer, MPS expanded its recruitment efforts to Chicago, where hundreds of teachers were recently laid off.
The district held a two-day recruitment fair in Wrigleyville over the summer. According to MPS, more than 30 offers were made and accepted following the event.
