Streeterville robbers shoot man, then carjack driver at nearby Whole Foods garage

A 64-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery in a Streeterville parking garage Friday night, and the robbers then carjacked another driver at a nearby grocery store parking garage to make their getaway, according to a law enforcement source.

The first victim was getting into his car inside the garage at 456 East Illinois Street when two men confronted him and demanded his property around 6:30 p.m., according to a Chicago police media statement. When he refused to cooperate, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot him in the side.

Passersby called 911 after hearing what they believed were gunshots and people screaming inside the garage. The man’s daughter also called 911 to report that her father had been shot on the third level, which is below ground in the low-rise structure…
