Chicago Man Gets 11 Years For Woodstock Home Invasion, Death Threat

A 24-year-old Chicago man was sentenced to 11 years in prison after admitting he forced his way into a Woodstock apartment with a gun, struck the woman inside and later called her with a threat to come back and kill her. Christopher J. Holman pleaded guilty Wednesday to home invasion with a firearm, a Class X felony, closing out a case that began with a terrifying break-in nearly two years ago.

According to Shaw Local, Holman entered the woman’s apartment on the morning of Jan. 22, 2025, armed with a firearm and struck her in the head and face. Prosecutors said he was acquainted with the woman and had actually been looking for someone else when he barged in, pistol-whipped her, grabbed roughly $300 in cash off a table and fled. As reported by WIFR, Woodstock police responded to the home after a report of an armed, violent break-in.

Victim Named Her Attacker, Then Got a Threatening Call

The woman identified Holman by name to responding officers, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner. McHenry County State’s Attorney Randi Freese said the case showed Holman violated the victim’s home security and threatened her life, and that she should not have to fear for her safety inside her own home.

A McHenry County grand jury returned a seven-count indictment against Holman in March 2025, the same report notes. As part of the negotiated plea, prosecutors dismissed the six remaining counts, leaving Holman convicted on the single count of home invasion with a firearm.

Sentence Comes With Mandatory Supervision, Custody Credit

Holman must serve half of his 11-year sentence before he’s eligible for release, followed by 18 months of mandatory supervised release, the station’s report states. He received 604 days of credit for time already spent in custody. At the time of his arrest in this case, Holman had just been paroled in September from the Illinois Department of Corrections and was taken directly into McHenry County jail custody…
