Moviegoer told to be quiet instead pulls gun on Logan Theatre audience, storms out

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — People watching a movie at the Logan Theatre on Chicago’s Northwest Side said a man in the audience pulled out a gun, when others asked him to stop talking during the film.

The theater, located on Milwaukee Avenue between Sawyer and Kedzie Avenues, was showing Weird Al Yankovic’s 1989 comedy “UHF” on Saturday night.

As Block Club Chicago first reported , witnesses and police said a man kept talking through most of the movie, even though he was repeatedly asked by theater workers and other people in the audience to quiet down.

Witnesses said the man stood up and they heard the cock of a gun. As people hit the floor, the man stormed out of the theater.

Chicago police said no injuries were reported. The man left the theater before officers arrived, but he left behind his cell phone, police and Logan Theatre staff said.

No arrests have been made.

One of the moviegoers told the Sun-Times that he won’t be going to see a movie “for a good long time” because of the experience.
