Illinois Democrat Demands Recall of Chicago Mayor Due to Migrant Crisis in City

Illinois Democratic candidate Andre Smith calls for Mayor Brandon Johnson’s removal amidst migrant crisis

Illinois House of Representatives hopeful, Andre Smith, is calling for the removal of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson from office, citing the mayor’s alleged lack of a coherent plan and mounting panic amid a surge in migrant arrivals to the city.

Smith, a Democrat and founder of the Chicago Against Violence organization, expressed his concerns on Fox & Friends, labeling the situation as a disaster and squarely attributing the responsibility to Mayor Brandon Johnson. Emphasizing the urgency, Smith stated, “It’s a disaster, and it all falls on the mayor, Brandon Johnson; that’s why I’m pushing strongly that we repeal the mayor”.

Running for the Illinois House of Representatives in District 5, Smith, despite his Democratic affiliation, advocates for border closure, highlighting the frustration, anger, and sense of neglect among residents who feel disenfranchised by Mayor Johnson’s actions.

“When I’m out talking to people, residents and voters, they’re frustrated, they’re angry, they feel left out and forgotten about. They feel that the mayor, Brandon Johnson, took their votes and their voice and did not allow them to vote whether they wanted a sanctuary city or not,” Smith remarked.
