A Billionaire Moved His Company From Chicago To Florida In 2022. It Made $16 Billion Last Year.

It’s no secret that Florida has been an attractive location for companies looking to relocate their headquarters over the last couple of years. Examples of companies who have made the move to the Sunshine State are Blackstone, Goldman Sachs, and Univision Communications Inc., as just a few examples.

One company that made the move just announced that it made $16 billion last year, which is reportedly a record.

About Ken Griffin And Citadel: According to the company’s website, Citadel is one of “the world’s leading investment firms,” and Kenneth C. Griffin is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Co-Chief Investment Officer.

According to Bloomberg’s billionaire index, Griffin is worth around $36.5 billion.

The Move From Chicago To Florida: In November of 2022, Fortune reported that Griffin said that it wasn’t only taxes that brought him to move his company’s headquarters to Florida in that same year. He reportedly said, in part:

“…taxes weren’t part of our decision to come to Florida. When you’ve got great schools, a great environment, and your streets are safe and clean, that’s when you’ve got a place you want to live in and call home…There’s something very special about the government in Florida and their focus on delivering traditional values for the community.”
