Chicago Returns To 10-Hour Days Tomorrow

Having just returned to post 5 pm sunsets last weekend, Chicago will tomorrow experience its first 10-hour day since November 10th, 2023. Just over a month ago on Thursday, December 21, we experienced the shortest day of 2023 with a 7:14 a.m. sunrise and 4:22 p.m. sunset making the day length a grand total of 9 hours, 7 minutes, and 44 seconds. Tomorrow, however, with sunrise at 07:03 and sunset at 17:05, the total day length will be 10 hours, 1 minute, and 44 seconds. Even better, from here on out daylight hours will increase rapidly with our first 11-hour day of the year coming on Saturday, February 24th when the sun will rise at 6:33 a.m. and set at 17:34 a.m.
