For Justin Fields supporters, it takes very little to generate hope.
Last week it was a highlight video released by the Bears. It had to be a sign they plan to keep Fields at quarterback if they put out a highlight video of his season, right?
Before that it was a web page publicizing next season’s game in London with Fields’ image on it. They had to plan to keep Fields if they publicize a trip to London using him, right?
This week’s sign from the heavens is Kliff Kingsbury, the former Cardinals head coach who failed to get the Bears offensive coordinator position.
When the Raiders appeared set to hire Klingsbury as offensive coordinator, speculation began centering on that team giving away a cache of future draft picks to the Bears for the right to move up and draft Caleb Williams.
The logic was Kingsbury worked with Williams at USC last year as QB coach and the Trojans had used the Air Raid offense that USC coach Lincoln Riley used with Williams as his QB.
Whether any of this was enough to keep the Bears from simply drafting Williams to be their quarterback is anyone’s guess at this point, but at least there appeared to be a link for Williams with the Raiders.
