Police investigate 2 early-morning robberies involving groups of armed men in Rogers Park

CHICAGO — Police are investigating two early-morning armed robberies that unfolded just eight blocks away from each other on the city’s Far North Side.

Chicago police say both robberies happened in the early morning hours in Rogers Park on Sunday.

According to police, the first robbery unfolded in the 6600 block of North Campbell Avenue, just after 2 a.m.

Officers say a 35-year-old man was walking along a sidewalk in the area when three armed men exited a dark-colored sedan and proceeded to chase the victim. After catching up with him, they began hitting him before they stole his cellphone and wallet and fled the scene.

Authorities say the victim was taken to the hospital in fair condition.

Just over an hour later, around 2:30 a.m., police were called to the scene of another robbery in the 7400 block of North Campbell Avenue.

Police say a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were sitting in a car in the area when a blue sedan approached and three men exited.
