16-Year-Old Charged as Adult with Armed Robbery, Murder in Fatal Washington Park Stabbing

Devon Holly allegedly stabbed, killed 18-year-old victim during robbery setup through Instagram

A 16-year-old boy, Devon Holly, has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder and robbery following the fatal stabbing of a teenager in the Washington Park Chicago neighborhood. The incident unfolded last week at an apartment building located in the 700 block of East 60th Street.

According to Cook County prosecutors, Holly’s sister arranged a meeting between Holly and the 18-year-old victim via Instagram, purportedly for the victim to purchase shoes. On the day of the attack, surveillance footage captured Holly’s sister waiting for the victim in the building’s lobby. Subsequently, she accompanied the victim in an elevator to the fourth floor, where Holly and a friend of his sister awaited.

Clad in a ski mask, Holly allegedly demanded money from the victim upon exiting the elevator, subsequently confiscating his phone and demanding the passcode. A resident of the building witnessed the robbery and promptly notified the building manager.
