Two adolescents face charges following robbery incident
Chicago police apprehended two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, in connection with an armed robbery in the Little Village neighborhood on Friday afternoon.
The arrests were made around 2:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the 2700 block of South Avers Avenue and the 2700 block of South Ridgeway Avenue. Both adolescents face charges of armed robbery and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, given their age under 21. Additionally, the 16-year-old received an extra charge for possessing a firearm with a defaced serial number.
Law enforcement officials have identified the teens as the perpetrators who reportedly threatened a 14-year-old boy with a gun and stole his belongings in the 2600 block of South Hamlin Avenue just moments before their arrest.
The accused teenagers are slated to appear at a juvenile detention hearing scheduled for Saturday.
