Man gets hit with hammer after allegedly attacking multiple people on Northwest Side

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Charges are pending for a man in critical condition at an area hospital. He’s accused of attacking multiple people in Oriole Park on the Northwest Side late Saturday night. One of the victims fought back.

Police responded to an incident in which a 36-year-old man was physically attacking multiple victims at 11:50 p.m. in the 7300 block of West Summerdale Avenue in Norwood Park. One of the victims struck the suspect on the head with a hammer.

The suspect then began to punch a squad car and officers on scene deployed a taser and placed him in custody, according to police.

The suspect was then transported to Lutheran General Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Charges are pending at this time.
