Authorities detain trio after armed robbery incident culminates in vehicle collision
Chicago law enforcement authorities have detained three teenage boys in connection with an armed robbery and subsequent car crash in the Englewood neighborhood.
The incident unfolded Sunday night when a 50-year-old Chicago man fell victim to a robbery at gunpoint in the 100 block of East 74th Street, allegedly perpetrated by three male assailants just before 8 p.m.
According to the victim’s account to the police, the perpetrators fled the scene aboard a dark-colored SUV. Shortly thereafter, law enforcement officers responded to a car collision in the 6300 block of S. State, where a vehicle matching the description of the one used in the armed robbery had collided with a center median.
Subsequent investigation led to the apprehension of the three occupants of the vehicle, consisting of two 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old. Emergency services transported two of the individuals to Comer Children’s Hospital, while the third was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Their current conditions and the extent of their injuries remain undisclosed.
