Chicago Police Issue Warning to Owners of Northside Restaurants After Monthlong Series of Burglaries

Warning issued after 12 North Side Chicago restaurants burglaries occurred in a month’s time

Chicago law enforcement officials have issued a cautionary alert to businesses in the Near North Side and River North areas following a wave of 12 restaurant burglaries.

According to a statement released by the Chicago Police Department, each burglary involved the forced entry of one to three individuals, including a woman, who gained access by prying open the patio doors of various restaurants. Once inside, they targeted cash registers and absconded with an undisclosed sum of money.

The burglaries occurred between January 9 and February 6, predominantly during morning hours, presenting a concerning pattern of criminal activity within the affected neighborhoods.

Authorities revealed that four of the incidents took place within the first block of West Kinzie Street, with two burglaries reported in each of three other blocks: the 600 block of Orleans Street, 100 block of West Kinzie Street, and 100 block of West Illinois Street. Additionally, one burglary each occurred in the 800 block of North State Street and 300 block of West Hubbard Street.
