KFC shuts down three locations across Chicago’s South Side

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Three Kentucky Fried Chicken locations on Chicago’s South Side have been abruptly shut down.

The locations include a Bronzeville KFC at 300 E. 35th St., a location in Greater Grand Crossing at 7508 S. Lafayette, and a KFC in Chatham at 8307 S. King Drive. Chatham’s KFC underwent renovations as recently as 2022.

Some residents took to social media to voice their displeasure with the news. One wrote: “This is ridiculous that businesses are closing and people are without jobs.”

The restaurants joined a growing list of businesses to close up shop on Chicago’s South Side, including Cinema Chatham and a massive Walmart Supercenter near South Stewart Avenue and 84th Street.

KFC officials told multiple media outlets that the decision was a difficult one but also “the normal course of business.”
