Man charged after Bucktown alley attack in broad daylight last year

CHICAGO — A man has been charged after a Bucktown alley attack last year caught on camera.

Andre Simmons, 33, is facing charges of robbery, aggravated battery in a public place and driving on a suspended license.

He was arrested Wednesday in the 1200 block of South Central Park.

The attack took place in September behind the 2000 block of North Damen.

Footage showed a 33-year-old man, just before 3 p.m., walking and eating pizza when two men sneak up behind them. He was punched from behind and then kicked, beaten and robbed.

A witness in a nearby vehicle, who saw the robbery unfolding, honked their horn.
