Investigation underway after man found fatally shot, woman stabbed to death in Avalon Park

CHICAGO — Police are investigating after two people were found dead inside a residence on the city’s South Side on Friday afternoon.

According to Chicago police, the two victims were found just after 2 p.m. inside a residence in the 8100 block of South Cornell Avenue in Avalon Park.

Officers say they located a 50-year-old woman who had been stabbed several times and a 40-year-old man who had been shot in the head.

Police say both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Currently, the circumstances surrounding their deaths are under investigation and it is unclear why police were initially called to the home.
