PORTER COUNTY, IN – On Saturday, June 29th, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Trooper Justin Baumeister of the Indiana State Police was patrolling I-94 east of the truck weigh station when he observed a silver vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed. The vehicle, a silver Hyundai with Illinois registration, passed Trooper Baumeister’s fully marked police car while traveling eastbound. Trooper Baumeister caught up to the vehicle and paced it at 105 mph in a 70 mph zone. The vehicle was also changing lanes without signaling and passing other vehicles on the right. Trooper Baumeister activated his emergency lights, and the vehicle eventually pulled over after initially failing to stop.

During the investigation, the driver was handcuffed and taken into custody. The driver, who showed signs of impairment and being under the influence of alcohol, was identified as Shelby E. Foster, 22, from Chicago, IL. Foster became verbally aggressive, insisting that her relative was a Chicago Police Officer and demanding that the trooper call him immediately. The trooper also discovered two fake Illinois identification cards in Foster’s purse.
