Arts in the Dark Parade showcases vibrant celebration of creativity and imagination

CHICAGO – State Street transformed into a dazzling display of color and creativity Saturday evening with the Arts In The Dark Parade.

“I didn’t know it was going to be like this. It’s way more than I expected,” attendee Christina Simmons said.

The vibrant nighttime event has been going on for 10 years. This year, El Gran Festival Colombiano Dance Troupe opened the celebrations.

“When this started, we were the first ones. The first Latinos invited,” Jorge Ortega of El Gran Festival Colombiano Dance Troupe said.

The parade commemorates Halloween with an emphasis on the arts and highlights the imagination and artistic expressions of performers and cultural organizations through stunning dance performances, live music, unique costumes and impressive large-scale puppets.

“It’s fire, circus art, all mashed together, all to bring to light to you,” Arts In The Dark co-founder Mark Kelly said.

In an atmosphere where art and Halloween intertwine, the event offers an unforgettable experience that captures the spirit of the season.
